History of "Clubbing"

I was thinking about the expression "going clubbing" (going to a nightclub) and an image of two cartoon cavemen saying they were going to go clubbing (conking a cave-woman over the head). So I thought it would be funny to make a graphical timeline showing the history of that phrase. The timeline still only exists in my head but here are the events I would have put on it.
Cave men
British men in 1700's saying they were going to Club Sandwich (nightclub owned by the Earl of Sandwich)
Men in the 1800's saying they were going to Billy Club
1970's going to Club Soda
Modern men saying "let's go clubbing"
