Hope Burns Bright
Hope is a powerful emotion. Hope can fuel and sustain us through difficult times. We can then ask ourselves how do we get this rejuvenating power? Hope isn't as easy to get, or sadly as prevalent, as the sports drinks we can find at any grocery or convince store. Interestingly the slogan "is it in you" applies. Hope is within each of us.
There is a technique in art called forced prospective. This is used by an artist to force the viewer to see the world of the composition in a certain way. We can look at ourselves as an artist in our life. We can choose the prospective in our composition. This change in view turns an uphill battle into an upward trajectory. Richard Chenevix Trench beautifully described two contrasting life views.
How Different
Some murmur when the sky is clear And wholly bright to view, If one small speck of dark appear In their great heaven of blue:
And some with thankful love are filled, If but one streak of light, One ray of God's good mercy, gild The darkness of their night.
Are you familiar with the Green Lantern Corps? (I'm not changing the subject mid-post. Just trust me and I'll bring it back around). The Green Lantern Corps is a group of individuals that defend the galaxy and they are aided by green power rings. These rings choose their owners and allows special powers by harnessing willpower (a power within each of us). There are other power rings that tap into different emotions. For example the blue ring of power is aligned with hope. Someone can wear and gain great power from a blue ring of power. But full power of the blue ring cannot be realized without a green ring.
During times of peace and tranquility hope can come easily. We can have and maintain hope during times of turmoil and strife if we use the power within ourselves to force a positive prospective on our life.
Blue Lantern Oath:
"In fearful day, in raging night, With strong hearts full, our souls ignite. When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!"
